What London producer and Werk Discs label boss Darren Cunningham aka Actress (below) is producing is the technicolour sound of the future. Listen to his Splazsh album (released on Honest Jon’s Records) and be wowed by its scale and scope.

Here’s a producer who, like so many of his bass-exploring peers from Burial to Mount Kimbie (the latter also due in town this week to play at the Academy 2 on Wednesday), is filtering and processing the sounds he hears around him and then distilling them into a highly unique, dynamic, intriguing new soundtrack.

No wonder fellow innovator Flying Lotus has been bigging Cunningham’s work up of late.

Also on the bill is Girl Unit, London-based producer and Night Slugs’ luminary Philip Gamble, who has been throwing down cage-rattling bass, electro and ghettotech soundclashes of late. Local support from Marcus and Bingo.
