A substantial amount of Irish silver appears to be coming on to the market this season, and more will be offered next Wednesday by O'Reilly's of Dublin. Among the lots at an auction on the company's Francis Street premises will be a pair of very pretty George III sauceboats, made in Dublin by Joseph Jackson in 1785 and expected to sell for £12,000 to £13,000.

In fact, there is a generous range of Dublin silver among the lots, such as a pair of George II candlesticks made by John Hamilton (£8,000 to £10,000), a George II plain bowl probably from the workshop of R Calderwood (£7,000 to £9,000) and a George III dish ring with Adam-style decoration made by J Bullard in 1800 (£6,000 to £7,000).

The same sale also features jewellery, including a pair of diamond single-stone earrings of approximately 1.55 carats each (£8,000 to £9,000). In addition there are a number of fine paintings. This auction begins at 1 p.m.
