There's a joke Jack Whitehall does that goes something like this: "I'm sure my Dad is looking down on me now, wherever he is. He's not dead. He's just condescending."

This is the sort of high- strength material that has seen the affable Englishman pick up many a newcomers award on the comedy circuit, and draw comparisons with some very big names.

Still just 20, Whitehall only did his first Edinburgh solo show last year. But there was enough in there to suggest a very capable comic with buckets of potential. He already has quite a TV profile from hosting the Big Brother's Big Mouth reality TV spin-off show.
