Director Lenny Abrahamson's touching and often very funny movie, Adam & Paul - which won the award for best first feature film at Galway Film Fleadh Sunday night - has been acquired for Irish release on August 27th by Abbey Films.

Produced by Jonny Speers, the film features perfectly judged performances from Mark O'Halloran (who also wrote the screenplay) and Tom Jordan Murphy as a couple of dishevelled Dublin junkies desperately scrounging for drugs over the course of one eventful day.

Receiving his award in Galway, Abrahamson (above, second from left) called for the retention of the Irish Film Board's low-budget initiative without which, he said, his film would not have been made.
