THREE RIVERS finally came good over hurdles when making every yard of the running to win the Bruff Maiden Hurdle at Limerick yesterday.
Having his seventh start over jumps, the 4 to 5 favourite was foot perfect at each of his hurdles and comfortably beat Strategic Ploy by three lengths.
The winner, trained by Willie Mullins, was ridden by Pat Morris, who was recording his 15th success and in doing so reduced his allowance to 5lb.
Local trainer Michael Hourigan, among the winners here on St Stephen's Day, again teamed up with his son and namesake to win the Hospital Handicap Hurdle with bottom weight Illbethereforyou.
Horgan also landed his second winner of the Christmas meeting when partnering 4 to 7 favourite Royal Rosy to a three-length success in the Tattersalls Ireland EBF Mares Beginners Chase.
The Real Article, trained by Gerry Stack and well ridden by Liam Cusack, will turn out again at Fairyhouse on New Year's Day after winning the Pat Chesser Handicap Chase from market leaders Ontheroadagain and The Crazy Bishop.
