Marianne Faithfull
Dreaming My Dreams
Eagle Vision
***
Marianne Faithfull's story is one helluva tale: the aristocratic background and convent upbringing, lover and confidante of Mick Jagger, pop singer, heroin addict, movie star and, latterly, grand dame of pop music beloved by the likes of Jarvis Cocker and Damon Albarn.
Thankfully, Faithfull herself presides over this documentary, revealing in a dignified and intelligent manner her rise and fall and rise again throughout the years. Old pals Keith Richards and Sally Oldfield attest to her charms ("a great pair of tits," chortles the gnarly old Stone), while archive footage proves that Faithfull was one of the most beautiful and sophisticated pop starlets of the 1960s. In between the sweet As Tears Go Byand the ragged Broken Englishis a lifetime of experiences, mostly bad. Faithfull, however, shrugs it off.
Onwards and upwards, a true survivor. Extras include a photo gallery.
