In addition to fronting ceo, Eric Berglund is one-half of Swedish Balearic-pop swingers The Tough Alliance and co-founder of the Sincerely Yours label. Such credits will ensure a healthy amount of attention for White Magic, an album whose best bits remind you of TTA and whose worst bits make you pine for TTA. Berglund is at his best when the groove is in the heart (see No Mercy, which is slightly St Etienne-ish in shape and purpose), though there are also less successful moments when the producer stretches his 1960s pop muscles. Berglund's ace in the pack is Come With Me, a track that combines a glorious wash of melancholy and an evocative sense of bliss into an epic with both on and off-dancefloor potential.
