Light Up Gold What's Your Rupture****
Tex-New Yorkers Austin Brown and Andrew Savage (also of the excellent Fergus Geronimo) are high on a buzz, and that's good news for all. Light Up Gold is a smart and spry garage-rock humdinger that moves at warp speed from one casually cast-off peach to the next. Most of the songs don't hang around any longer than two minutes, but that's plenty of time for the pair to get in, make a great, breathless, impressive clatter, throw down some killer lines (the sneered "forget about it!" chorus on Master of My Craft is a thing of beauty) and get out again. That said, one of the best moments is Stoned and Starving, the duo lurching about for a five-minute celestial drone searching for a cure for the munchies. parquetcourts.word
