The Wall – Experience/Immersion EMI****
We have now (or at least for the time being) come to the end of the extensive Pink Floyd reissue campaign, and because this album is seen to equal Dark Side of the Moonin terms of concept if not in commercial terms – with almost 30 million copies sold worldwide, it is second only to that album – it is the final Floyd work to be released in the Experienceversions (three discs, including a bonus disc of work in progress) and Immersion(seven discs including video material, original demos, a documentary, memorabilia). If you're looking for classic old-school rock opera about issues focused on and around familial oppression, scholastic tyranny, drug abuse, abandonment and guilt as torment, then come on in, you're welcome. Best bit? David Gilmour's guitar solo on Comfortably Numb– for those who care about such things, it still ranks as one of the best in prog rock. pinkfloyd.com
