The Harvest Ministers

Strange Love Letter, Crayon Records ****

A new record by Dublin's Harvest Ministers is rare and always welcome. This is but their fifth album in 23 years, and it's worth the wait. Mainstay Will Merriman has obviously been listening to much soul, country and blues. Life Just Put Her In My Wayis country soul that would have fit easily on Lambchop's Nixon. Tombstone Eyesis an upbeat pop song that ought to be blasting from FM radios the world over. Friday Night Seanceis my favourite track at the moment, but most of the others are pushing it close. If you know their music, you know you'll love this. If The Harvest Ministers have previously passed you by, perhaps it's time to introduce yourself.
