Christy Moore is one of the performers set to play at a forthcoming celebration of Aung San Suu Kyi at the National Concert Hall in Dublin.

The Burmese political activist remains under house arrest, but her 65th birthday will be celebrated by Moore and a number of names from the Irish arts world on Saturday, June 19th. Aung San Suu Kyi has attracted the support of many musical figures in recent years; Michael Stipe of REM has spoken out in favour of the Nobel Peace Prize winner, and Damien Rice released the single Unplayed Pianofor the Free Aung San Suu Kyi campaign on her 60th birthday.

The celebration will be hosted by Marian Finucane, and will also feature Eamon Dunphy, author Deirdre Purcell, Damian Gorman and more. Dublin Gospel Choir, Brendan Graham and Niall Toner are among those joining Moore on musical duties.

Tickets are available from nch.ie, and all profits go to Burma Action Ireland.
