French musician Bertrand Cantat made headlines last weekend when he played his first high-profile gig since his release from prison. Cantat, singer of rock band Noir Désir, was convicted of beating his girlfriend Marie Trintignant to death in 2003. His release on parole in 2007 caused controversy, as did his appearance at a festival near Bordeaux on Saturday. The band also reportedly have a new album in the works.
