Alt-rock band Bouts release their new, double A-side single next month – but, in a new departure for them, the quartet will put a monetary value on their music for the first time.
Since forming in 2010, the Dubliners have made their previous releases – a full-length album entitled
New Ways of Saying NO
and an eponymous 4-track EP – available to download for free from their website gimmebouts.com. The tactic has served them well in terms of raising their profile, vocalist and guitarist Barry Bracken admits, but he claims it’s time to move “beyond the introductory phase”.
“If people like what you do, they should put their money where their mouth is,” he said.
The double A-side single,
Get Sick/Turn Away
, is released on 7 vinyl on March 30th and will be promoted by an Irish tour. The band hope to record their second album in the autumn.
