The New Breed series of gigs kicks off tonight at the new Captain’s Live venue in Blanchardstown

The New Breed series of gigs kicks off tonight at the new Captain’s Live venue in Blanchardstown. Named for the recent compilation of new and established Irish acts, the first session will feature R.S.A.G. and The Minutes. Other acts include Preacher’s Son (tomorrow), Ollie Cole (July 23rd), Sweet Jane (July 24th), Miracle Bell (July 29th) and Ham Sandwich, Le Galaxie and Crayonsmith (July 30th). Tickets available at the door.

Rox Ferry: Brian Ferry’s new album features an all-star cast of guests. David Gilmour, Nile Rodgers, Flea and Jonny Greenwood all lend a hand to Olympia, released in October.

Cave’s TV drama:

Nick Cave’s latest literary foray, The Death of Bunny Munro, is to be made into a TV series. Cave claims that the novel began as a script, and that Ray Winstone is in the frame for the lead role.
