Clean Bandit's notion to blend classical and dance music has successful paid off, judging by the popularity of Mozart's House and Rather Be. Of course, dance music's fondness for strings is a long-running one, with many acts, producers and DJs adding atmospheric orchestration to their basslines. The trick for these Cambridge grads is to stretch their mix of bleeps, drops, Dvorák and Mozart into a full album. When it works, you can suss a band fully aware of the many possibilities at hand. Both Dust Clears and Extraordinary, for example, find odd angles and edges to propel the overall pop-house momentum. Sadly, there are a couple of prime dogs dinners and smug fests on show, especially Come Over, in which posh diva vocals clash badly with Stylo G's dancehall chatter. Clean Bandit's template may well be in need of new strings. cleanbandit.co.uk
