It used to be all about Trócaire boxes on top of the telly, but Concern is giving music fans a special treat this winter in return for some fundraising. The Concern Fastival (“the fast that thinks it’s a festival”) will take place on November 25th. Participants refrain from eating for 24 hours to generate sponsorship funds for the charity; in return, they’ll gain free entry to a number of nationwide gigs.

Dublin fasters will be entertained by The Jimmy Cake, The Last Tycoons, Nouveaunoise and Clockwork Noise at Whelan’s. Codes and Daithí Ó Dronaí will help Galwegians forget their hunger pangs. Windings, Brad Pitt Light Orchestra and Vertigo Smyth will play in Limerick. Cork will be entertained by RSAG and guests, and The Chieftains will play a special gig at the Tullamore Court Hotel, Co Offaly, on the 24th.

Those who aren’t fasting can pay to attend the gigs. See concernfastival.com for more details.
