Track of the week is 'Sledgehammer' by Fifth Harmony
Written by Meghan Trainor, this track contains a dubious medical simile (‘If you could take my pulse right now, it would feel just like a sledgehammer’) but we’ll forgive it that. There’s a brilliant synthy oh-woah-oh bit, and the chorus is just catchy enough to make you want to press repeat. Fifth Harmony, we’ll be keeping an eye on you.
Financially savvy hero of the week is Ed Sheeran, who told Q Magazine all about his savings plans. "Back in the day managers were crooks, record labels took 50 per cent, whereas now people are savvy... When I signed my deal, my manager who used to work at Atlantic said, 'I know the f**king deal you gave to James Blunt last week so you'll give Ed exactly the same deal because I know you can.' Before, it was, 'Record deal, cool, sign!'" He advised upcoming stars to "do your time, earn your money, buy some property and when it all goes to sh*t you've got something to fall back on."
If you’re thinking of belting out ‘Let It Go’ at Christmas kareoke this year, voice of Elsa, Idina Menzel has some words of warning. “It’s really hard. I can’t wake up in the morning and just sing it”, she told the Daily Telegraph. “Everyone who likes to sing it should sing it loud and proud and karaoke it out - sing it in the shower, sing it in the car and don’t worry about hitting the high notes.” Pass us the honey and lemon, we’ll start warming up now.
Zero of the week, is Michael 5SOS, depending on who you talk to. Abigail Breslin (yes, the girl from "Little Miss Sunshine") has written a diss track about her former 5 Seconds of a Summer beau. Imaginatively, it's called, 'You Suck'. Michael 5SOS countered, telling an Oz radio station "I haven't spoken to her in a year." Luke 5SOS added, "We don't know for sure it's about Michael. It could be anyone, really."
