The Irish Baroque Orchestra ends its season this week with Monica Huggett directing an all-Haydn programme – Symphonies 6-8 (Le matin, Le midi and Le soir) – in Dublin and Wexford.

And the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra rounds off its subscription season tonight with Alan Buribayev (above) conducting Rimsky Korsakov (the May Night Overture), Rachmaninov (the Paganini Rhapsody, with Freddy Kempf the piano soloist), Linda Buckley (her new chiyo) and Rachmaninov (the Symphonic Dances).

The NSO’s summer concerts begin at lunchtime on June 14th, and the orchestra’s 2011-12 season will open on September 9th, with Buribayev conducting Mendelssohn (the First Piano Concerto with Gabriela Montero), and Mahler (the Fifth Symphony).

Also this week, Mark Duley’s choir Resurgam continue the Russian flavour of the NSO’s Friday concert when they sing Schnittke’s Concerto for mixed chorus and Tchaikovsky’s Liturgy of St John Chrysostom.
