TRACK OF THE WEEK
Party Girlby McFly
It feels like ages since there’s been a new McFly track (it has, in fact, been a little over a year), and my gosh have we missed them. Returning on an electro-pop bent (think RedOne fuelled by Tesco value cola), Party Girl slots them right back on top where they belong.
RATED R:Rihanna has been cast in a film! And not just any film – it's the film version of, erm, Battleship. Yeah, like the game. In fact, exactly like the game. Hopefully she'll be doing more than frustratedly putting pegs in a board, but it could well be a new art-house direction for the singer.
BIEBERWATCH
Reaching a new height (or should that be low?) of vanity, J-Biebz recently asked fellow tween Selena Gomez to remove her shoes, as Justin didn’t want to appear short. Selena brushed him off: “I was laughing and going ‘No, I’m not going to take them off – you’re not going to make me take my shoes off!” Maybe he could phone Prince for some cuban-heel tips?
Pop Corner'scattiest resident has had a stroke of bad luck. This week, Louis Walsh had his phone hacked by a phone company employee – a very high-tech crime, no?
Says Walsho: “I knew nothing about it at all until the boss of the company contacted me.” Now wary, he mulls: “It makes me very wary of exchanging confidential information by phone and yet it’s hard to avoid it, given the nature of this business.” We’re remaining tight-lipped.
Katy Perryis to release her own fragrance. Ever a gal for a pun, the purrr-fume will be named Purr by Katy Perry. It will be available from November, and it arrives in a cat-shaped bottle with jewelled eyes, and will smell of (deep breath) peach, apple, green bamboo, jasmine, freesia, bulgarian rose, vanilla, orchid, white amber, sandalwood and musk. It sounds varied if nothing else.
