Boats were floated, skirts were raised, and at least two thumbs were held aloft when these Norwegian punk-rockers shredded the rafters at venues in Groningen at this year’s Eurosonic. The band of young ’uns (the name translates as “Honey Children”) have been around for less than three years, but in that time have amassed no small amount of kudos by being as punk rock as punk rock gets.

Which means exactly? Smart teenagers mouthing off about a society run by thick adults and giving out about double standards, political lies, deceit, avarice and cowardice. Yes, they’ll grow up, and yes, they’ll compromise their beliefs in order to advance themselves but, for now, Honningbarna are in the zone. They’re convulsive, visceral, furious – and possibly the only VERY ANGRY punk rock band from Norway whose vocalist (Edward Valberg, see picture) plays a mean, mean cello.
