You won’t mistake a Jamie “Blawan” Roberts tune for the work of anyone else. Roberts (pictured) has produced distinctive, classy, sweltering cuts (Getting Me Down, What You Do with What You Have) for labels RS, Clone and Hessle. These are tracks that dominate the dancefloor like nothing else around them.
Last year’s Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage was a riot of the finest order, a demonstration of Roberts’s techno smarts and a record that didn’t baulk at pushing and pulling the listener in every direction. Like What You Do with What You Have, which looped a sample of a Kenny Dixon Jr lecture into a crunchy tech groove, Bodies hit all the right spots.
