They are the US rock behemoths whose members once wore socks over their, well, you know. They are the chart-busting, funk-loving, rock’n’roll duck’n’diving, hard-living and even harder playing band that have been around for nigh on 30 years. It’s to Red Hot Chili Peppers’ credit that they have been around so long and yet have managed not only to retain their credibility but also to expand their fan base.
Unusually for a band of their years, they’re not viewed as a heritage act, which says something either about their back catalogue (does any one album of theirs really stand out as being a definitive, stone-cold classic?) or the group itself (always moving along in a fug of creative toil). Either way, there’s a durability to these Peppers that takes some beating. Well done, gentlemen!
