Max Bloom of Yuck
What's on your rider? It's quite standard, nothing spectacular – fruits, vegetables, way too much hummus, coffee/tea, beer, wine, Red Bull, water, Jameson's and so on.
What's the best gig you've been to?That would probably be Wilco at End of the Road festival in Dorset a couple of years ago. I haven't been that impressed with a live gig since.
And the worst?Maybe it was seeing Muse at Reading when I was 15 and my boot came off.
What are your favourite and least favourite venues? The Lexington in London is a really good small venue. The sound is always really good and they serve excellent whiskey. The Barfly in London isn't a great venue. The sound is awful and it's a very uninspiring, dark, smelly room.
Who's the most famous person to show up at one of your gigs?Fogell from Superbad! I was star-struck.
What's the most you've ever paid for a gig ticket?I paid a healthy amount to see Holger Czukay from Can do something at the Roundhouse in London. Two hours of minimal German electro. I think I walked out.
How many roadies does it take to change your lightbulbs? We always travel with Lewis Lovely. He's our tour manager/sound guy/general badass, imported from Brooklyn. You'll always see him at our gigs – look out for a Korean guy with a long beard behind the mixing desk.
Who's invited to your aftershow party?My great-aunt. She's 102.
What's your best tour story? Here's a recent one. The ferry from Sweden to Finland takes 12 hours, and has turned into a party boat. It's like a big cruise ship with restaurants, bars, covers bands, and a disco. We went to Finland on the party boat. When we got to Finland, a one-hour journey from the port to the venue ended up taking six hours because we kept having to pull over to sleep. The next day we arranged to get the early morning ferry back, which meant no party, which we were very grateful for. However, we got sold fake tickets, so we missed the day ferry. We got moved onto the next ferry, which was, unfortunately, the party boat, again. Two party boats in 24 hours!
