THE PRIESTS ft SHANE MACGOWAN
Little Drummer Boy/ Peace on Earth
Epic **
Ha! A song about the importance of taking care of one's fellow man, sung by a man barely capable of taking care of himself. Actually, The Priests sing both the Bing Crosby and David Bowie parts, leaving Shane to cackle intermittently and generally frighten the horses. Not a particularly inspired Christmas single, but maybe, just maybe, the greatest episode of Father Tednever made.

Good Day Today ****
At 64, the legendary cult film director has decided to try his hand at electro-pop. And guess what? He makes a really decent fist of it. Talented guy: his friends must hate his guts. itunes.com
THE DIRTY PROJECTORS
As I Went Out One Morning
Domino ****
The Brooklyn band’s version of this brilliant and opaque Dylan track. a staple of their lives set, is released as a 7-inch single today. Over the din of his band mates’ clattering accompaniment, Dave Longstreth’s vocal is remarkably faithful to the original. But it remains anyone’s guess what the hell the song is actually about.

RCM ***
On the first single from their forth album, the Cork five- piece promise not only to rock your socks off, but to “take you to the cinema and buy you coke and a bag of minstrels.” That’s Coca Cola, one assumes. There is a recession on, after all.
WILLOW SMITH
Whip My Hair
Roc Nation **
At 10 years old, the latest of Will Smith’s talented offspring makes Justin Bieber look like Shakin’ Stevens. Willow throws some age- inappropriate shapes here, lip-syncing along to an irritating track extolling the therapeutic benefits of head-banging. Already Jay-Z is calling her a superstar. I don’t know what else to say; sometimes I feel like the last sane person alive.
