Jason Pierce and Spiritualized have been tearing down the walls of heaven for more than 20 years. The man from Rugby, Warwickshire has also been caught hiding behind the rocks and hard places of hell in his quest to find the balance between genius and sanity.

In person, the man behind two of the most critically acclaimed albums of the past two decades (1992’s Lazer Guided Melodies and 1997’s Ladies and Gentlemen, We Are Floating in Space) comes across as an amiable laboratory scientist; earnest and passionate in equal measure, with just a hint of 1,000-yard-stare edginess.

Whatever about the man, the music is just something else. The Ticket had the squirming pleasure of watching Spiritualized in action last December at St James’ Church in Dingle, and if this gig comes to within even an inch of that show we can all just die and float up to outer space very happy bunnies, indeed.
