The Lost Brothers are true to their name. These gentle, melancholic Americana tracks lend a faraway look to their musical vision. This is the first of a new trilogy by Mark McCausland and Oisin Leech, and suffice to say that the morning after hearing it for the first time, tracks such as the softly insistent Gold and Silver and the regret-stained Can I Stay With You sound warmly familiar. All their songs, plus or minus, deliver this alchemy, reflecting the light/shade of the title. And while the line from previous albums remains true, their partnership with Liverpool producer and Bill Ryder-Jones adds richness and brass to the beguiling mix. thelostbrothers band.com
