The programme for the 37th Kilkenny Arts Festival – one of the country’s best and longest-running events of its kind – offers a wide range of musical delights for those planning to converge on the Marble City from August 6th-15th.
One of this year's biggest draws on the Wiredmusic programme is Tindersticks, who now count David Kitt among their members and who will close the festival at St Canice's Cathedral on August 15th, with support from 3epkano. Also pencilled in to play at the same hallowed venue is Mick Flannery plus support (August 8th), while the Set Theatre will host a number of Irish acts including Adrian Crowley and Valerie Francis (August 15th), And So I Watch You From Afar (August 14th) and Halves (August 12th). Krautrock connoisseur Damo Suzuki of Can will also play the Set, on August 13th, as will renowned American cellist Erik Friedlander (August 8th).
There are also several music-based seminars and talks planned. Festival director Damian Downes told The Ticket that the programme will have the crowds “spinning and dancing in every direction”. kilkennyarts.ie
