Zac Traeger and Sam Chown have always let it be known that they don't mess around – what you see is what you get, and what you get is commitment to a creative cause that is bound tight and virtually unbreakable. In February the duo from Austin, Texas delivered a freak-out tune called We All Die Young (included here), which more or less set the tone for Zzoorrcchh: wonky time signatures, shouty lyrics and a rake of exuberant melodies all vying for supremacy. If all that sounds like too much to take in at one sitting (Zorch are, with some justification, referred as a "glitch-pop-psych-punk-jazz" act), then fear not, as the nine-minutes-plus Cosmic Gloss does exactly what it says on the tin: calm sonic brush strokes from musicians who reference Gong as much as PM Dawn's 1991 chill-out classic, Set Adrift on Memory Bliss. sargenthouse.com/zorch Download: Cosmic Gloss, We All Die Young
