Bernard Shaw, Dublin Tonight 6pm Adm free; Twisted Pepper, Dublin Tonight 10.30pm €10/€8 01-8734800
Why have one party when you can have three? Not Saying Boo! turn on the style this weekend in the capital with bashes in the Bernard Shaw and Twisted Pepper, followed by a secret after-party to keep it going all night.
The action begins in the Portobello boozer, with live sets from The Candidates and BearBones, a live graf jam with FOES, a skate ramp from the SCAG crew, and James Kirwan, Nialler9 and Dave Kennedy on the decks. The big draw at the Twisted Pepper is Bristol house and bass roughneck Julio Bashmore (below), whose productions and remixes on the Night Slugs, Dirtybird and Soul Motive labels have showcased a restless soul with a predilection for such futuristic and forward-thinking tunes as Battle for Middle You.
Support from Frankie Grimes, Marcus Ignored, Melodee, Frankie Bingo, Tu-Ki and many more, with a “Heavy Petting Zoo”, hairdresser and caricaturist also amongst the attractions.
Can't see that? Catch thisSunil Sharpe brings the tech heat to the south (Fri, Cork); Nigel Wood's Ear to the Globe global sounds (Sun, Dublin); and sweaty dubstep from the Strangeways, Here We Come! crew (Wed, Dublin)
