Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto has been an individualistic and inspirational visitor to Ireland since he first played here in 2000. He’s back in Belfast this week for another reading of the greatest violin concerto produced in his native Finland, the Concerto in D minor by Sibelius.
He’s partnered by the orchestra’s principal conductor, Kenneth Montgomery, who offers Beethoven’s Egmont Overture as an opener, and rounds the evening off with Bruckner’s Sixth Symphony.
Kuusisto and Montgomery can be heard in a pre-concert talk at 7pm.
