Whyte's reports record prices from last week's stamp auction, where a British Guiana 1852 one cent black on magenta used example fetched £550 and a Falklands Islands 1933 centenary £1 fine mint stamp sold for £600.
A British £1 stamp from 1882 sold for £800, a complete sheet of 40 1915 British two shillings and sixpence stamps, overprinted with "cancelled", went for £1,600 and an Irish 1918 cover, Dublin to Palestine, stating, "saved from the S.S. Leinster" (which was sunk by a German torpedo), was bought for £800.
Two other items from this auction: a complete sheet of 240 10d stamps from Ireland in 1922 made £1,800 and a set of 15 Irish 1935 2d stamps fetched £1,300.
