VALENTINE'S Day is well and truely over but it is never too late to give a simple solitaire. O'Reillys will auction a quality one next Wednesday at their sale of fine jewellery. Lot 342 is a solitaire diamond ring of 4.25 carats, which carries a catalogue estimate of £6,000-£7,000.

Other interesting lots in the sale include a three stone diamond and emerald ring with a 2ct emerald and an 18ct gold band. It is estimated at £3,000-£3,500. An antique 18ct gold, double Albert chin should fetch over £1,800 and a Victorian 9ct gold muff chain carries an estimate of up to £1,000.

An 18ct gold Piaget ladies watch with a diamond encrusted face carries a top estimate of £3,500, while a pair of Victorian diamond stud earrings, each one around 1.5cts, has an estimate of £3,000-£4,000. A fine quality, cultured pearl necklace, 26 inches long, is estimated at £1,500-£1,800.

In all, over 500 lots will be sold, including silver trinket boxes cigarette cases and card cases, silver spoons and forks, silver and gold brooches and bangles, cameos and cuff links.
