Events and things to do in August
Kids Scene: Decluttering isn't just for adults. Many children have so much stuff that they can't get their heads round it and end up moaning: "There's nothing to play with!" Dump everything out into a pile and see how the children rediscover toys they had forgotten about. Discard everything that you know the children will never need again. Bring it to the charity shop only if it has all its pieces and is in good enough shape to give to a friend. The toys that the children may play with again should be put in plastic bags in the attic. - Kate Holmquist
Listen in: What's hot on your iPod? Singer-songwriter Mark Geary, who will be touring the country this autumn
"I'm very obsessive about songs, it doesn't matter how many I have, I listen to the same ones all the time. The La's, Son of a Gun, I've been listening to it for 10 years, it's pure, incredible, heavenly pop. I started listening to U2 Boy again. Pete Doherty, For Lovers, the song is unbelievable. There's Nina Simone, Kings of Leon, Pink Floyd and the soundtrack from The Life Aquatic." - In conversation with Ciara Bambrick
Scene Out: Marble Arch Caves, Marlbank, Florencecourt, Co Fermanagh.
