The blockbuster season has only just begun, but the Hollywood studios have already scheduled over a dozen big-budget pictures for release next summer – even though some haven’t started shooting yet.
First out of the labs on May 7th will be Iron Man 2with Robert Downey Jr returning and Mickey Rourke joining the cast. Next up will be Ridley Scott's as-yet-untitled Robin Hood movie, starring Russell Crowe with Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian.
May releases also include Shrek Goes Fourthand Disney's live-action Prince of Persia: The Sands of Timestarring Jake Gyllenhaal. Due in June are The A-Team, although the cast isn't confirmed yet; the third instalments of Twilight(the second opens in November this year) and Toy Story; Seth Rogen in The Green Hornet; and an untitled action- comedy with Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher.
In the crowded July line-up are Christopher Nolan's science-fiction thriller Inception, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page and Cillian Murphy; M Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender, with Dev Patel; animated pictures Despicable Meand Guardians of Ga'Hoole; Disney's live- action The Sorcerer's Apprentice, with Nicolas Cage; Kevin James in romantic comedy The Zookeeper; and Angelina Jolie as a CIA officer accused of being a Russian spy in Salt.
The sole August 2010 release scheduled – so far – is the western Jonah Hex, starring Josh Brolin.
