EAMONN MCCORMACK Kindred Spirits True Talent Records **
Every guitarist dreams of jamming with his heroes, and this Dublin guitarist has played with the greats, including Rory Gallagher, Jan Akkerman and Nils Lofgren.
After years of grafting on the blues circuit under the uninspiring stage name of Samuel Eddy, McCormack has gathered a CV of stuff he's recorded over the years.
He's added in a couple of his star jams, including Mystica, a ringing instrumental workout with Akkerman, and A Stranger on the Run, featuring Keith Donald on curved soprano sax.
The album's big selling point is Falsely Accused, with Gallagher in what may have been the great man's last-ever recording.
McCormack's no slouch on the guitar himself, displaying Gary Moore-style dynamics, but his vocals lack the pure blues grit, and his songwriting sticks largely to boogie blues. www.eamonnnmccormack.net - KEVIN COURTNEY
