In one of the most unlikely US remakes of a European art-house favourite, brash comedian Chris Rock has remodelled Chloe in the Afternoon/L'Amour l'Après-Midi (1972), the last in Eric Rohmer's cycle of six moral tales, as I Think I Love My Wife. Rock, who scripted the remake with his Pootie Tang collaborator, Louis CK, is also producer, director and star.

The movie, which opens in the US today, draws on the essence of Rohmer's French original, relocating it to New York, where Rock's character, an investment banker, is tempted into adultery with a friend's former lover, played by Kerry Washington from The Last King of Scotland. The consequences involve a dinner party discussion on the horrors of rap and Michael Jackson - and the Rock character's allergic reaction to Viagra.
