It marked the beginning of a whole new look for the Abbey Theatre, when Peter Sheridan's television ads started appearing on RTE a month ago. They brilliantly plunder a 1950s series of interviews with Abbey greats, filmed by Tom Hayes in the shell of the burned-out old theatre. Sheridan has interleaved snippets of film featuring figures such as Siobhan McKenna and Cyril Cusack - and, best of all, Sean O'Casey and Barry Fitzgerald gingerly making up after 30 years of not speaking - with images which you could call "Contemporary Celtic".
Here, the Abbey goddess and wolfhound (left) are let loose in the form of Naomi Cullen and Blossom the dog - who seemed dozey at the press launch of the ads, despite the distinguished company she was keeping - from left, Peter Sheridan, Billy Saunders, head of Bank of Ireland Credit Card Services, Colm Molloy, director of sales and marketing at RTE, and Terry Lennon, marketing manager of B of ICCS.
