The second album from the virtuosic Seamus Egan's band, this is a wonderful tribute to inventiveness and imagination that has both feet on the River bank. Karan Casey unashamedly and memorably belts out half-a-dozen songs to superb accompaniment - a 6/8 Aililiu Na Gamhna and Wind That Shakes The Barley. A Frank Harte edge is impressively reconstructed and developed in Adieu Lovely Nancy. Baile An Chailidh reel set displays John Doyle's guitar, Egan's flute and banjo, Winnie Horan's fiddle, John Williams's box, low whistle crosses over in patterns on Ed Reevy's High Hill. In great moments throughout, the hallmark melodic accompaniment is splashed tastefully: Irish America again holds the baton it used to hold on the old '78s.
