Most visiting acts come to town with a new album to flog, but not DJ Shadow. As the wait continues for a follow-up to 2006's The Outsider, Josh Davis has decided to hit the road to showcase some new tunes and various cuts from the back catalogue.
While Shadow may be residing in the, well, shadows of late, you’re rarely far from his sound, with everyone from deep-bass explorers to cosmic warriors such as Hudson Mohawke and Flying Lotus displaying a trace of the Californian producer’s influence in their work.
It will be interesting to know what Davis makes of this new scene and if it’s had any bearing on his work. After all, it’s 14 years since the still peerless Endtroducing album, and the time is ripe for Shadow to move things forward once again.
