Have the strategies outlined in The Arts Plan (1995-98) been effective? Has access to the arts increased and have artists been well supported? As the present Arts Council nears the end of its term, these and many other questions about the last four years of arts development will be teased out in a day-long national forum, hosted by the Arts Council tomorrow at the Grand Hotel, Malahide, as part of its consultation process - which runs in tandem with the separate review of the Plan currently being undertaken by the Department of Arts and Heritage.
A second forum, focusing on developing the next Arts Plan, will be held on June 19th, in the University of Limerick. Speakers at both events will be drawn from all parts of the arts sector and participation is open to artists, arts workers and interested bodies. Registration (in advance only) is free to unwaged arts practitioners; otherwise: £25. Further information from Breda Cashe, tel: (01) 618 0250.
