Joint Statement on Principles of Strategic Stability
The two leaders pledged to continue talks on further cuts in strategic nuclear weapons and acknowledged the 1972 Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) treaty as the "cornerstone" of global strategic security. They also agreed to order their experts to work on a joint report on how to tackle new threats to strategic stability, a reference to rogue missile attacks.

The system is aimed at helping Russia to overcome blind spots in its antiquated detection system. It will provide a near real-time exchange of information about the launch of ballistic missiles and space-launch vehicles detected by the warning systems - satellites, infra-red systems and radars - of the two sides.
