Since Senator William Fulbright founded the Fulbright Commission 50 years ago to further Irish/American studies, scholarships have been awarded to Irish students in a variety of academic subjects, writes Carolyn Swift. Now, thanks to sponsorship by Riverdance the Show and its directors John McColgan and Moya Doherty, two Irish dancers will enjoy a year at Boston College, where they will study a wide range of dance, including ballet, contemporary dance, jazz and tap.

Riverdance Fulbright Scholarships were awarded to Yzanne Cloonan, performing with Riverdance the Show, and Fiona Harold, performing with Lord of the Dance, who trained respectively at Tralee Institute of Technology and the College of Dance, Dublin.
