Elly Jackson's second album, Trouble in Paradise, has bounced the singer back into the limelight, and a good thing, too: its warm, discofied, hook- laden tunes come across like a future Greatest Hits record. That La Roux is playing such a small venue, however, is as puzzling as it is welcome.

Rhythm Method (above)are five of the Dublin jazz scene's busiest and most creative musicians. They explore territory first opened up by Miles Davis during his electric period, overlaid with elements of minimalism, free improv and odd-meter grooves. Bassist Cormac O'Brien and guitarist Shane Latimer stoke the flames, with contributions from keyboardist Daragh O'Kelly, trumpeter Bill Blackmore and drummer Shane O'Donovan. Debut album By the Bye is just out and available on the night.
