A fitting memorial to the late Connemara sean nós singer Patsy Ó Ceannabháin, Fear Múinte Mánlais a snapshot of one whose open, uncluttered singing style may be a magnet for those who struggle with some of the more esoteric aspects of sean nós.

Drawn from diverse sources, the variable sound quality does little to undermine Ó Ceannabháin's essentially personable singing style. An Spailpín Fánachcaptures his wide open, unhurried approach, which relished the marriage of lyric and melody. He's equally at home with the more playful songs, including Bean Pháidín, its wave-like rhythms underscoring its exploration of one of life's great verities (namely, lovelorn jealousy).
