My gripe concerns the amount of time we spend stopped, impeding traffic, at a red light for a left turn when our progress would have no impact on other traffic or pedestrians. Many countries operate "left on red" or "right on red" systems. There is no sensible reason why we cannot use a left-hand filter light at 70 per cent of left-hand turns through junctions.

As a cyclist, I only have one problem with motorists: their failure to give way to cyclists who approach from behind on the inside. Many motoristsfeel, once they put their indicators on, even briefly, they are entitled to turn. A cyclist on their inside has little visibility of the indicator, and must stop suddenly to avoid an accident.
