Floral Hall faces demolition after proposals fall through

One of the best known mid-20th century leisure buildings, the Floral Hall - set in the centre of the rolling slopes of Cave Hill - is facing demolition unless a suitable use can be found for it. The owner, Belfast City Council, has been unable to find an application for it for almost three decades.

Commercial Information Company (CIC), which reports on planning and development matters in the North, reports that the council holds out little hope for preserving the building. Several proposals have been put forward by private developers, but all have fallen through. CIC reports that the council is now likely to seek the de-listing of the Hall and arrange for its demolition.
