No other injuries were reported following the incident, she added.

Garda forensic collision investigators examined the scene of the crash and the road has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the fatal incident to contact Tallaght Garda station on (01) 6666000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.

The force is also keen to speak to anyone who has relevant camera footage, such as from a dashcam, taken in the area around the time of the collision.

Some of Mr Monks’ family members, including his partner and mother, have paid tribute to him on social media following the incident.

“My beautiful baby boy. How is my life ever going to be the same ever again? 18 years of loving you, the best 18 years of my life. I will love you always my beautiful boy,” his mother, Donna Monks, wrote in a post.
