Jazz in this year's Kilkenny Arts Festival comes from a talent-packed international quartet of young musicians - The Quartet Jams. In the front line is probably the finest saxophonist yet produced here, tenor and soprano player Michael Buckley (right) who, despite his youth, is hugely experienced; recently, for example, he did a short tour with the Mingus Big Band, but he has also played with such luminaries as Lee Konitz, Kenny Wheeler and George Coleman. Sharing front line duties with him will be the acclaimed Spanish pianist, Albert Sanz, of whom great things are expected. Supporting them are the British bassist, Jeremy Brown, and the Barcelona-based Irish drummer, Stephen Keogh, who have toured together in a trio with Brad Mehldau.
