The public appetite for the smoky eye look shows no sign of waning - it's still the technique make-up devotees most want to master. Some of the best eye palettes, offering a variety of textures and intensities, are produced by Dior.
This spring they've gone for an homage to grey, with a palette of fresh and modern tones, with the all-important addition of a shell pink which keeps the look from looking too cold.
Grey is a tricky colour to pull off on nails - most are too cold and flat and give hands a deadened appearance, so bonus points for the matte nail lacquer in this collection. Lady Grey is a most flattering shade of grey - I suspect a dash of pink is involved here too.
Give it a lash
When it comes to mascara, the wish list usually includes length, definition and volume. Make-up artists' favourite Hypnôse by Lancôme delivers on all three counts, with a conditioning formula that received a rave review from my tester.
The formula is now available in two fashion shades for a limited time. Coloured mascaras are a minefield of wonky shades, but these two are subtly intense. Hypnôse Precious Cells in Purple and Green cost €25.50.
*With the 1970s vibe back in town, lower lashes are having a moment and Clinique is on the case with its Bottom Lash Mascara (€14). The micro brush (the smallest on the market), is shaped to reach those hard-to-find bottom lashes. Apply on the outer third of lower lashes for a subtle, wide-eyed effect.
