ROLLERGIRL
Big, bouncy hair usually means using rollers – but who has time to wait around while they set your hair? Sleep-In Rollers allow you to sleep in comfort and wake up to a good hair day. €20.45 from selected salons and cloud10beauty.com
PUMP UP THE VOLUME
We’ll all want big hair soon if the catwalks are anything to go by – think Jane Fonda in Barbarella. Root lift is key to a voluminous mane, and now you can achieve it with a styling powder. Shu Uemura, a brand that is famed for its beauty brushes, has cleverly combined product and application brush in Volume Maker (€37), an easy and mess-free method that is so much kinder to hair than backcombing. At Kazumi, Molesworth Street, Dublin, and selected salons nationwide.
NATURAL BOAR
Frederic Fekkai has been hairstylist to Hollywood's elite for more than 20 years and his eponymous range of products includes a classic hairbrush with natural boar bristles that stimulate the scalp and add shine – it provides a great workout for your hair. Although it isn't cheap, it's such good quality it should last a lifetime. Go on, you're worth it. It costs €86 with free delivery from beautybay.com
SMOOTH OPERATOR
Hair-smoothing treatments have had their share of bad press, but there’s still high demand for products that leave hair easy to style and frizz-free. Alfaparf’s Lisse Design Keratin Therapy has been made without formaldehyde (the main bugbear of previous smoothing treatments) and will make blow-drying a dream, leaving hair soft and silky. The treatment costs €150 and lasts up to three months. Available at the award-winning Keville Hairdressing, South Anne Street, Dublin, and countrywide. Tel: 045-856 490.
I CANT LIVE WITHOUT Sorcha O'Raghallaigh, fashion designer
Jo Malone – Orange Blossom Cologne I hate leaving the house without perfume. My cousin Matilda gave me this scent for my wedding and I have been obsessed with it ever since. It’s fresh but rich without being too overpowering. It always makes me feel happy and fresh and reminds me of my wedding.
Elizabeth Arden – Eight Hour Cream I suffer from dry skin and this is an absolute miracle, especially in the winter when the weather is harsh. I find it good for my face and lips. I honestly don’t know what I did before I discovered it.
YSL – False Lash Mascara I love absolutely everything about this product. The gold packaging cheers me up and I always have it in my handbag – just in case.
Bumble Bumble – Creme de Coco Masque I love to change my hair colour every other week, but it takes its toll. Whenever my hair is looking tired and feels like straw, I leave this mask in overnight and it sorts my hair right out and makes it as good as new.
iPod I love music. At the moment I have Grimes’s album Visions on repeat – her music is amazing and so inspiring.
Sorcha is a judge at this year’s Blossom Hill Ladies’ Day at the Dublin Horse Show at the RDS on August 16th
